Calling all “Dancing With the Stars” fans: Here's your chance to help design a very special performance — everything from the type of dance to selecting the actual dancers, including the celebrity. And yes, 1992 Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi is in the running. Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas won season 6 of the popular ABC show, and could return this season for a special appearance.
The catch: Yamaguchi must be voted in by fans. “Dancing With the Stars” is running an online contest to let viewers select who will be invited back to dance on the newest season of the hit show.
Here's how it works:
In week 2, fans have the opportunity to cast votes for the celebrity they would like to see dance. Voting will be open from 6 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and close at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6. IFS has learned that Yamaguchi is in the running. Her competition will be revealed tonight.
The Pro Dancer
In week 3, fans can vote online to pick the professional dancers they would like to see dance with the winning celebrity. Voting will be open Oct. 6 and close at Oct.13.
The Costume - Submission
Also in week 3, viewers can enter the costume design contest by creating and submitting original designs for both the male and female dance costumes. In an upcoming “Dancing With the Stars Results Show,” the celebrity and professional dancing team selected by the fans will wear costumes based on the winning designs. The winner will receive a trip to Los Angeles to attend a live taping of the show.
The Costume - Voting
In week 6 the finalists for the costume, selected by the show's own costume designer, will be featured online Fans can vote for their favorite.
The Paso Doble was chosen as the winning dance last week.
Viewers can vote online for the song the “Stars” will dance to. Voting closed this morning (Noo0n EST) and the song will be announced tonight.
