Joshua Farris Finds His Rhythm

At age 16, Joshua Farris made his debut at the senior level at the 2011 U.S. nationals. His performances in Greensboro, N.C, however, were the equivalent of a train wreck.

Just about anything that could go wrong did. In the end, Farris limped away in defeat.

Preparations for the competition had gone well, and the 2010 U.S. junior silver medalist was confident he would make an impact.

Farris and his then-coach Tom Zakrajsek were finalizing the content of his programs and were debating whether or not to include the quad in his programs. “But in practice, just before the short program, I felt something rip, and I learned that I had torn my left adductor muscle,” the 17-year-old recalled.
