While hometown heros Patrick Chan and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir gave their loyal fans plenty of reason to cheer, a number of emerging stars from Europe also announced their presence in rather historic fashion.
All in all, it added up to a fascinating weekend of skating for all who were on hand to witness the many storylines unfold.
Russia’s Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov had plenty of reasons to smile following their dominant win at Skate Canada, sweeping both the short and long programs. “We are very happy with our scores and winning,” said Trankov. “It’s our first Grand Prix together.”
