Akiko Suzuki led the charge by winning the ladies crown with 185.98 points. “I am happy to have won NHK Trophy for the first time. I made a mistake on the first jump in the second half and panicked,” said the 26-year-old Toyohashi native.
Teammate Mao Asada, 21, won the free skate but had to settle for silver (184.19). “For me, NHK was the first competition of the season. Hopefully this result will give me momentum for my next competition in Russia,” she said.
