Gracie Gold Sets Her Sights on Sochi

The name Gracie Gold may not be familiar to you right now, but no doubt that is about to change.

Prior to this season, the only medal the Springfield, Ill. resident had ever won was pewter at the U.S. novice level. A year later she placed sixth at the 2010 sectionals and did not qualify for nationals.

But this season the 16-year-old came out roaring, capturing gold in seven of the eight competitions she contested.

In early October, despite having no national ranking, Gold was sent to the final Junior Grand Prix event in Estonia. She ran away with the title by almost 15 points. It was her first international competition.
