It has been a long road back for Kimmie Meissner.
After capturing the 2006 World title at age 16, her future seemed to have no boundaries.
“I was so young when I won Worlds, and then everything started changing. I got a little bit older and then I started having issues with my coach,” Meissner explained.
Two years later Meissner all but quit the sport due to injuries. “I did not want anything to do with it," she said.
An invitation from Nick LaRoche in 2011 to perform in “Evening on Ice”changed Meissner’s perspective and reignited her passion.
"...after the show I was asking myself, why am I not doing this? I love skating. It was such an awesome moment. It was like an epiphany. I knew I wanted to skate again."
