She may be just 14, but Russia’s Julia Lipnitskaia, a junior diamond in the rough last year, has sparkled this season and has set the skating world on its ear.
The 2012 World junior champion showed an uncanny consistency last season, not making a single mistake in competition and rarely making one in practice sessions.
She joined the senior ranks in October and captured gold at her international debut at Finlandia Trophy.
But her journey has had its challenges. “I had a serious setback after the training camp in the off-season, because I had an injury. I couldn’t skate for a week."
