The long road back is starting to pay dividends for Japan’s Nobunari Oda.
On the heels of a 2011-12 season that was a virtual write-off because of a left knee injury, the 25-year-old is hoping to regain his status as a top contender on the global scene.
Oda believes he took a step in that direction with his bronze-medal finish at Skate Canada in October, which followed a season-opening triumph at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany.
“I’m very happy to be here,” Oda said of his return to the podium at a Grand Prix event. “I’m happy winning a medal and happy to come back from my injury last season.”
