ITNY: Down But Never Out

One week after Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) staged its annual spectacular at its Chelsea Piers headquarters, the organization braced itself for the worst as Hurricane Sandy came barreling up the coast, along the Hudson River headed straight for the ITNY office.

Staff rallied prior to the storm’s arrival, moving computers and other valuable items to higher ground. ITNY also relocated its invaluable photographic collection, which covers the company’s 28-year history, before the seawater surged into and flooded its offices.


Figure skating lost one of its finest when renowned Canadian photographer Gérard Châtaigneau passed away after suffering a heart attack at his home on Nov. 12. He was 67.

Châtaigneau, a former figure skater, was a passionate supporter of the sport and had been capturing its history from behind his lens for more than 25 years.
