The seventh annual "Stars Stripes and Skates" ice show will be held at the Danbury Arena in Danbury, Conn. on Sunday, Sept. 28. Show time is 3 p.m.
Emmy-award winning choreographer and dancer Shane Sparks of "America's Best Dance Crew" and "So You Think You Can Dance?" will co-host the event with three-time Olympian JoJo Starbuck.
Cast members include the 1994 Olympic champion Oksana Baiul; three-time World medalist Fumie Suguri; U.S. bronze medalist Ashley Wagner; British ice dance champions Sinead and John Kerr; 2008 U.S. World team member Jeremy Abbott; 2008 U.S. ice dance bronze medalists Kimberly Navarro and Brent Bommentre; 2008 World junior champion Adam Rippon; and Japanese team member Daisuke Murakami.
Miki Ando, the 2007 World champion, was slated to skate in the show but withdrew over the weekend due to a personal issue. Ando was in Danbury for the show's rehearsal but an emergency arose and she had to return to New York.
The event benefits the 9/11 Heritage Foundation and also will offer audience member a unique opportunity. According to the New York Times.com, anyone who buys a ticket to "Stars, Stripes and Skates" will be invited to the taping of a pilot episode for a new skating reality show immediately afterward, featuring surprise celebrity guests from the skating world.
