U.S. ice dancers Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto have announced they will headline a skating benefit to raise funds for two of Detroit’s top health care facilities, The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Children's Hospital of Michigan. Both health-care centers are known for their cutting edge cancer research, education and patient care.
“Home for the Holidays: A Celebration on Ice” will take place Dec. 22 at the Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Mich. Two shows are scheduled: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Belbin and Agosto will be joined by 1994 Olympic champion Oksana Baiul and 2007 U.S. champion Evan Lysacek as well as many aspiring Olympic hopefuls from the Detroit area.
Belbin said her own family has been touched by cancer. "During the holidays especially, you focus on what matters: family, friends, and health," she said.
"You just have to count your blessings and help those you can," Agosto added.
