The ancient city of Shanghai is the third stop on the Grand Prix circuit (Nov. 4-6).

Nobunari Oda will be looking for redemption at this competition but he can expect strong competition from a number of his rivals. Brian Joubert, Jeremy Abbott, Yuzuru Hanyu and Artur Gachinski will all be in the hunt for hardware.

Carolina Kostner and Mirai Nagasu are the veterans in the lineup for the ladies event, and both will have to be on top of their game to fend off challenges from Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova (15), the reigning World junior champion, as well as a number of other rising stars.

The fight for gold in the pairs event will likely be between Russia’s Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov and Wenjing Sui and Cong Han from China who won both their junior Grand Prix events and have a place at the Junior Final. The rising stars claimed silver at Skate Canada in October. 2011 Skate America silver medalists Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch will also be looking to add to their medal count and chasing a berth at the Final.

The dance event title is up for grabs. Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani from the U.S. are strong contenders, as are Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev from Russia. America’s Charlotte Lichtman and Dean Copely, the 2011 World junior bronze medalists, will make their debut on the senior circuit in Shanghai.
