An Historic Star-Studded Evening Raising Awareness of Women’s Cancers “Frosted Pink,” a not-to-be-missed television special, will air nationally on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. on the ABC network. The show, which raises awareness of women’s cancers, has one simple message: “Do something.” More than 250,000 women are diagnosed with women's cancers every year in the United States. An eclectic and rare mix of skaters, celebrities and international recording artists will unite in this historical production. A formidable skating cast has been assembled for the show including Kurt Browning, Katarina Witt, Kristi Yamaguchi, Sasha Cohen, Nancy Kerrigan, Rosalynn Sumners, Katia Gordeeva, Oksana Baiul, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto and Rena Inoue and John Baldwin. They will be joined by a host of international television and recording stars which includes Peggy Fleming, Sharon Osbourne, Rascal Flatts, Olivia Newton-John, Joss Stone, Anastacia, Kenny Babyface Edmunds, Craig Morgan and the band Heart. Browning said he readily agreed to do the show given his personal history with cancer. He lost his mother to cancer and his 84-year-old father is a three-time cancer survivor. “My father is currently recovering from breast cancer,” Browning revealed. “So the story we have to tell [on ice] is related to situations we are all in or have been in. It has to come from the heart.” Browning has choreographed his own program for the gala production. Taping is slated for Oct. 6 in Los Angeles, four days prior to “Kurt Browning’s Gotta Skate” spectacular 3,000 miles away in Toronto. Four of America's leading cancer entities have thrown their support behind “Frosted Pink” in a united effort to bring a message to the millions of people who are touched by cancer. The National Breast Cancer Coalition, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance are all aligned with the “Frosted Pink” project. “It is more of a TV show than a skating show, if you know what I mean,” Browning said. “It is really to educate people about cancer and stuff. The performances will be all about skating heaven, heartache and the power of love.” The Style Network will air the show on Monday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. (EST) and subsequent airings will take place throughout the month of October. Nationwide Insurance will present the inaugural "Nationwide Insurance Woman of Courage Award," and make a $25,000 donation to “Frosted Pink’s” nonprofit partners in the recipient's honor. In 2008, the “Frosted Pink” campaign will produce "Pink with A Twist," which will feature some of America's top gymnasts including 2007 World All-Around Champion Shawn Johnson.
