Theatre Arts On Ice will hold “The Frozen Stage” fundraiser Nov. 14 at Seaside Ice in Redondo Beach, Calif. The event’s celebrity host will be Randy Gardner.

The fundraiser will take place from 4-7 p.m. and will include a skate party on the beach and a 10-minute demo screening of the documentary of the same name: “The Frozen Stage.” Exhibitions by skating pros and a silent auction are also planned.

Featuring Olympic champions Brian Boitano (1988) and Dorothy Hamill (1976), the documentary follows the evolution of theatrical skating from inception through its modern day presence. Susan Austin, renowned choreographer and co-founder of Theatre Arts On Ice, and Scott Williams of Turtle Island Productions, Inc., creator/producer of the TLC series "Ice Diaries," joined forced with Emmy Award winning documentarian Erik Ewers to take “The Frozen Stage” from vision to reality.

The event will benefit the non-profit organization Theatre Arts On Ice. The organization (formerly known as the City of Angels Ice Theatre) aims to produce, educate, preserve and advance skating as a performing art with a commitment to integrating dance and various art forms with skating to be presented in live performance, film and educational programs.

The company, which was founded in 1995 by Lisa-Marie Allen and Austin, has presented work in Las Vegas, at Universal City Walk, Downtown on Ice in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills on Ice, and other venues in the Los Angeles area. In 1995 the company received the Professional Skaters Association Edi Award for the presentation of "Rivers of Belief." Theatre Arts On Ice also runs educational youth programs.

The silent auction will include memorabilia from such stars as Boitano, Hamill, Michelle Kwan, Michael Weiss, and Tai Babilonia. Other times include tickets to “Brian Boitano’s Skating Spectacular” and Disney on Ice as well as airline tickets, a free subscription to International Figure Skating magazine, a Crowne Plaza Hotel package and local restaurant gift certificates.
