Aliona Savchenko & Bruno Massot

Make Their Debut in South Korea

Five-time World champions and two-time Olympic bronze medalists Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy bid farewell to their fans at a show “Imagine on Ice” which took place in Chemnitz, Germany on April 26.

Szolkowy, 34, has officially retired. Savchenko, 30, plans to continue her career with Bruno Massot, 25. He and his former partner Daria Popova were the 2012 French pairs champions.

According to their coach, Ingo Steuer, Savchenko and Massot had good chemistry from the first training session.

Although the German and French Federations have yet to agree which country the pair will skate for, Savchenko and Massot are very motivated. "I would like to skate for Germany if the conditions are right and an acceptable solution is found for our coach," Savchenko said. "Ingo shaped Robin and I in a very short time to become a world-class pair and we also strive again now.”

Savchenko and Massot will make their debut as a pairs team at the "All That Skate" shows in South Korea, headlined by Yuna Kim, May 3-6.

Savchenko and Szolkowy were originally scheduled to perform but after the demise of that pairing, organizers asked Steuer if Savchenko and Massot would be ready to perform in the shows.

Steuer confirmed they are ready and that the duo will perform a couple of show programs.
